Tallinn is opening onto the sea: an outstanding residential project gets underway in Kadriorg
The real estate development company Metro Capital has started a new development project in Kadriorg. The first stage to be completed will be a five-storey, exceptionally comfortable and environmentally friendly apartment building with 22 apartments and five commercial premises.
The Kiikri Residences are surrounded by Kadriorg Park on one side, with the sea and Pirita Promenade, which is due to be completed next year, on the other. A bicycle and pedestrian path that leads through the park to the seaside starts right in front of the new building. “Due to the prominent and exacting location of the Kiikri Residences, the preparations for this project have taken several years,” explains Ain Kivisaar, partner of Metro Capital. “The result is a building that is extremely enjoyable both inside and out, where every detail has been carefully considered.”
The plan is to build three elegant buildings in the vicinity of the Tivoli residential district. A children’s playground and private pedestrian paths are planned for the green space between the buildings. Electric care charging stations will also be available in the underground garage. The building will be completed in the autumn of 2017 and will have commercial premises located on the ground floor. To encourage an environmentally friendly mindset, Metro Capital will install solar panels on the roofs of the Kiikri Residences.
The long and spacious terraces, which were designed collaboratively by the architectural firms Architect 11 and PIN Arhitektid, provide picturesque views of the sea and Kadriorg Park all year round. A warm combination of wood and stone will cover the facades, complemented by broad glass surfaces. Kiikri Residences offers well-planned 2–4-room flats, with interior design that can best be described as minimalist and top quality. Smart home solutions enable the residents to regulate their heating, air cooling and ventilation.
Metro Capital is an Estonian company that has already been contributing to the development of Tallinn’s urban environment for ten years. The company invests in environmentally friendly construction – this means using renewable energy and eco-friendly materials. During the last few years, Metro Capital has built more than 400 new flats in Tallinn, making it one of the largest players in the development and sales market for new flats. The company’s development portfolio includes the Metro Plaza commercial building, which combines modernity with the historic, the splendid Pirita Rannahoone and Meerhof Residences, as well as new apartment buildings in Kadriorg and Kalamaja. In addition to the Kiikri Residences, the exclusive Meerhof 2.0 apartment building and seaside Tivoli residential district are also nearing completion.
