The architecture of Marienberg significantly enhances the Pirita promenade and the panorama of Tallinn and creates a comprehensive living environment on the border of the sea and the park. The project is designed by the internationally renowned ALA Architects, whose bold and carefully thought-out design was praised by the jury at the international architectural competition.
The jury of the architectural competition included reputable architects and experts: Oliver Alver (city architect, Tallinn Urban Planning Department), Margit Mutso (executive architect, Eek & Mutso) and Joakim Lyth (executive architect, Wingardh Arkitekter). Their contribution to the competition process was vital.
The jury described the winning entry as follows: ‘The design, with its professional and bold architectural choices, is simultaneously dense and sensitive, with a strong character that stands out and helps enhance the Pirita promenade and the panorama of Tallinn. The angled facades of the buildings let through light and views to streets and courtyards, resulting in a human-scale and pleasant urban space.’
The Pirita tee 28 design created by ALA Architects is a true example of world-class architecture that combines innovation, aesthetic and practicality. The goal is to create a high-quality and unique living environment that blends into the surrounding nature.
